The current administration have focused on ramping up IRS’s enforcement actions by allocating 80 billion dollars and 87,000 new agents over the course of the next ten years to bring in an estimate of 700 billion in revenue.
This boost in funding will beef up IRS collections staffing to fight tax evasion from small businesses and working class citizens on low-wage jobs, as well as self-employed individuals.
Senator Elizabeth Warren a Democrat from Massachusetts was quoted as saying, “The IRS is so starved for resources that it targets people who are cheapest to audit: low-income taxpayers and often people of color”.
As a result of the new funding there will be more IRS staff assigned to the job, which could result in multiple agents targeting you and invading your privacy causing you to feel unsafe
